Manicures and Pedicures Are for Guys Too

Manicures and pedicures, AKA the mani and pedi, are not just for the ladies.  Any guy who has hands and feet should have this done at least a couple of times a year (if not once a month).

There’s no reason why you shouldn’t make this part of your grooming regiment. Not only does it feel amazing, but there are so many health benefits too.

There is nothing more manly than a guy who’s confident and knows how to take care of himself.

If you’re a guy there’s no reason why you should ever let your fingernails grow past your fingertips, unless of course, you’re Dracula.  Have you ever shook hands with a dude with long fingernails?  It’s really creepy and awkward.

Why Should Guys Get a Manicure?

The most obvious reason a guy should get a manicure (mani) is for looks. Having someone clean and shape your nasty fingernails is a must, especially if you can’t do it yourself.

Your hands can say a lot about you.  They can tell several stories about your life, such as what you do for a living or how hygienic you are.

If you’re a professional, you want to show others that you care about yourself, and one of the first things people will notice about you are your hands.

Why Should Get a Pedicure?

The most obvious reason why a guy should get a pedicure is for looks.  Most feet are pretty nasty to look at.

Have you ever seen a guy wear flip-flops or sandals who have these gangly-ass toes?  Some of them have toenails so long that it makes you cringe looking at them.

Cleaning up the Funk

You know that if these guys aren’t trimming those toenails, they sure as hell aren’t cleaning the toe funk from underneath them.

Also, if you have hard and white ashy feet, why would you want to show those off to anyone, especially in public?

I feel really sorry for those ladies who get into bed with a dude with jacked-up feet.  Those nasty-ass long toenails and sandpaper feeling soles rubbing all over her soft legs is just mind-boggling and gross.  If you happen to be one of these guys there is still hope for you.

Pedicures are Healthy

There are so many good reasons for guys to get a pedicure (pedi). First and foremost it reduces the number of nasty bacteria from your feet.

Sure, you probably wash your feet in the shower or at least let the suds run down your legs to your feet.  That’s great and all, but you aren’t getting all the nastiness that is under your toenails.

Additionally, having your feet exfoliated will also help to reduce the bacteria buildup that leads to foot odor. Plus, it will add a softness to your feet that you never knew existed!

Pedicures Reduce Stress

The second good reason to get a pedi is that it reduces stress.  My sister and brother-in-law took me to get my first mani and pedi when they lived in Los Angeles.

We went to this little place called Hollywood Nails.  The nail tech sat me down in this oversized massage chair and filled a tub full of hot water and just let my feet soak for a few minutes.

Then I was offered a Coke in one of the little glass bottles and they had “The Girls Next Door” on their TV. A cute little girl cleaned up my toes and I got the most amazing foot and leg massage. My first experience couldn’t have been better.

Mani and Pedi at Home

We all get busy and sometimes we have a tough time carving out an hour during the day to do the simple stuff like grocery shopping or going to the gym.

Scheduling an extra hour out of our lives for something that seems a bit luxurious may not be practical.  However, you can treat yourself to a mani and pedi at home.

  • Get yourself a good manicure and pedicure kit
  • Don’t trim your nails too short
  • Trim your nails evenly
  • Use a nail file to smooth down the rough edges
  • Get the gunk out from underneath your toenails
  • Use a Dapper Yankee soap bar infused with pumice to exfoliate your feet
  • Grab a soothing and manly foot lotion and give yourself a foot massage

Wrapping Up

Seriously, I can’t stress enough how amazing a manicure and pedicure are.

If you think that going to get one will make you less of a man, you’re completely wrong.  And if you are uncomfortable going by yourself, treat your girlfriend or your wife and make it a date!
